About
Our monastery
Buddha Ashram is a small Theravāda community in Karnataka, oriented to practice and study in the spirit of the early teachings. The sangha lives simply; guests are received when arrangements allow. This site describes the place and how to connect — it is not a programme catalogue.

Friends of the monastery
The monastery project has been encouraged from the beginning by lay friends in Karnataka and beyond. Among them, Sri M. Puttamadaiah, formerly of the Indian Police Service in Karnataka, has been a principal supporter: having found depth in the Buddha's teachings, he helped conceive a forest monastery where others could learn and practise in a disciplined setting. A widening circle of like-minded people assists with counsel, labour, and resources.

The circle of supporters has grown as the place takes shape.
Place and buildings
Land, existing structures, building priorities, photographs, and construction clips are described on The monastery. Short written updates appear under Updates.
Daily rhythm
Days are structured around meditation, communal work, and study. Times vary with the season and the number of residents; visitors who have been invited align with the community schedule out of respect for the sangha and the quiet of the place.
Tradition
The community follows the Theravāda forest-monastic ethos: emphasis on the Pāli discourses, ethical restraint, and meditation as taught in lineages that value simplicity and directness. Teachers introduces the guiding bhikkhu.
