Ambiguity note
The PDF supplied as About the Trust does not list a registration number or trustees by name. Those details are omitted here until you publish an authoritative supplement.
The monastery project named in the document is “Buddha Marg Theravada Forest Monastery”. This website uses the spelling Buddha Maarg for the public domain buddhamaarg.org; both refer to the same Nashik-area forest monastery initiative.
On the sacred land of Oorja Bhumi:
Under this trust, on the sacred land of Oorja Bhumi, we are establishing the Buddha Marg Theravada Forest Monastery, under the guidance of the Vinaya-dhārī Bhikkhu Sangha.
The Sangha is dedicated not only to walking the path toward Nibbāna themselves, but also to compassionately supporting upāsakas and upāsikās in achieving both lokiya (worldly well-being) and lokuttara (supramundane liberation) attainments.
Mission and vision
Vision
Buddha Marg envisions a world where the timeless teachings of the Buddha and the forest monastic tradition are preserved, practiced, and made accessible to all. We are committed to establishing and nurturing a strong Sangha that upholds the Dhamma and Vinaya with integrity.
Mission
Our mission is to encourage, empower, and support all beings in their journey toward liberation from suffering. Through dedicated practice, compassionate guidance, and a life rooted in wisdom and virtue, we strive to create an environment where the path to true peace and awakening can flourish.
Objectives
1. Revival of the Forest Monastic Tradition
We aim to restore the ancient Indian forest monastic way of life, emphasizing simplicity, solitude, and deep meditative practice in a natural environment conducive to liberation.
2. Training in Monastic Discipline and Meditation
The monastery will serve as a training center for aspirants, offering structured guidance in Vinaya, mindfulness, contemplation, and advanced meditation practices.
3. Creating Conditions for the Cessation of Suffering
We seek to establish an environment rooted in Dhamma that supports the development of insight, leading to true peace and freedom from suffering.
4. Reviving and Preserving Ancient Indian Spiritual Culture
The monastery is dedicated to reviving India’s authentic spiritual heritage and correcting distortions through proper understanding and practice.
5. Propagation of Noble Values
We promote the cultivation and practice of: Karuṇā (Compassion); Mettā / Maitrī (Loving-kindness); Muditā (Sympathetic Joy); Upekkhā (Equanimity). These values are expressed through ethical living and community welfare activities.
6. Promotion of Nibbāna Bhāvanā
Nibbāna is central to the Buddha’s teaching. We support individuals—especially those “with little dust in their eyes”—in progressing toward direct realization through structured meditation.
7. Preservation and Dissemination of Knowledge
We aim to preserve and share spiritual and cultural knowledge through publications, digital platforms, and educational initiatives.
Commitment
The trustees of Panchasheel Buddha Vihar are deeply committed to preserving India’s spiritual heritage and promoting its ethical and cultural values.
Through this monastery, we aspire to contribute to a society grounded in wisdom, compassion, and harmony—offering a path toward lasting peace.
